The current study aimed to assess the total phenol, total flavonoid contents and antioxidant activities of three extracts Trigonella foenum-graecum(Fenugreek) seed ,Aframomum cororima (Korarima) seed and Lippiaadoensis var. koseret (Koseret) leaves.
The dried leaves of Fenugreek, Korarima, and Koseret extracted successively with ethanol by maceration for 24 hours. total phenol, total flavonoid contents of extracts were determined by Folin–Ciocalteu and aluminium chloride method respectively and antioxidant activities by Di Phenly Pincrly Hydrazile, Ferric reducing power and phosphomolbdenum assay.
In conclusion,The results showed ethanolic extracts had significant phenolic and flavonoid contents and also very good antioxidant activities. It was found that Koseret contained the highest TPC 139.3 ± 1 milligram of gallic acid equivalent per gram of dried extract and TFC 167.5± 0.64 milligram of catechin equivalent per gram of dried extract.Koseret has the highest total phenolic, flavonoid content and antioxidant activities.
